The MODIG RS485 to Ethernet Mini Converter is a versatile and user-friendly gateway that bridges an RS485 bus with an Ethernet network interface. An additional USB-C port provides power to the converter and enables monitoring of its operational parameters. Applications

The converter enables bidirectional data transmission between an RS485 interface and an Ethernet network. Communication can be established either between multiple MODIG RS485-ETHERNET Mini devices or by interfacing with other hardware that supports TCP and/or UDP protocols.

RS485 data frames are encapsulated and converted into Ethernet TCP/UDP packets. For large data frames (exceeding 1.5 kB, up to a maximum of 4 kB), an automated fragmentation mechanism splits the payload into smaller frames. At the destination device, the original RS485 data frames are reconstructed seamlessly, ensuring completely transparent transmission.
